Purpose and Mission

​Purpose
The end for which the Church exists is to enter and receive, in mind and heart, the spiritual and celestial things of the Internal Sense of the Word of the Lord... thus the formation of an Internal Church in each individual person.

 Mission
To promote the growth of a spiritual community that fosters the
formation of heaven within each person, through studying, contemplating, and living the Word of the Lord.

 
Ministries

Education
The Lord’s New Church is dedicated to furthering the education of our children, our Priests, our members, and our staff.
 
Children and Youth​
  • Tuition assistance for high school and college for the children in our churches in Lesotho and South Africa;
  • Ongoing maintenance of two elementary schools and a high school in Lesotho;
  • Sponsorship of the Pennypack Preschool in Bryn Athyn, PA, which serves 3 to 5-year-old children

Translation and Publication
 
The Theodore Pitcairn Trust Fund was created primarily to support the translation and publication of the Word written through Emanuel Swedenborg. This work is sponsored by the Publications Committee, which also funds the publication of pamphlets and other Church-related brochures.

The Publications Committee actively seeks and supports New Church translation and publication projects in many different languages. 

Many of our translations and publications are available on this website under Free Swedenborg Books Online. You will find additional translations offered on the websites linked from the Resources page of this website. If you don’t find translations or publications that you are interested in on any of our websites, or if you wish to obtain copies of our pamphlets or purchase any of our publications, please submit your request under "Contact Us" on the right side of this page, noting the language and publication in which you are interested. All inquiries are welcome.
 

Community Outreach
 
Each Society (Congregation) or Diocese sponsors a variety of community projects for the good of its community. Examples of community projects include:

Republic of South Africa
  • An AIDS Orphanage for Newborns in the Republic of South Africa: a program sponsored by a church member to provide supplies and health services for newborn babies who are born with AIDS;
Sweden
  • Spiritual Art Workshops are offered to the community, teaching different techniques to connect with your spiritual creativity and express it through art.
