Due to a combination of drought and Covid-19, the people of Lesotho are facing food shortages. People are going hungry as food prices skyrocket. Due to Covid, the government of this landlocked country—surrounded completely by South Africa—has several times shut their borders cutting off important food supplies. People are losing their jobs and income.
The situation is dire.
You can help.
For just $40 USD, you can help feed a struggling family for weeks.
With over 700 members in Lesotho, The Lord’s New Church is running a fundraiser to help in both the short term and the long term. A team of LNC Church members in Lesotho is ready to distribute food parcels with dry goods that will last a family of 4 people for nearly a month. For just $40 USD, a family can receive over 70lbs of vital items, such as cornmeal, beans, cooking oil and eggs.
Students from the Lesotho New Church High School and LNC Primary Schools are ramping up food-sustaining projects, such as raising chickens and operating greenhouses to produce food for the neighboring village.
These initiatives will help many families in need—both in the church and also our neighbors.
100% of funds raised will go directly to Lesotho.
The Lord's New Church will match donations up to a combined total of $5,000.
Help us to help them.
Food preservation is such a vital part of Lesotho's way of life that creativity and innovation of food production is part of the curriculum. Pictured above, dry herbs and fruits that Primary students in LNC schools learn to preserve.
