hells that make up the great 18th-century thinker's cosmology, at once perfectly logical and perfectly eccentric. Swedenborg's afterworld is a kind of reflection and amplification of our own, and his vision of moving and active collective of heavens, occupied by the very real blessed dead, has been a tremendous influence on Goethe, Emerson, and Jorge Luis Borges, among many others. Dole's translation has the clarity and simplicity of Swedenborg's Latin, and the notes and supplementary material are wonderfully balanced and informative. Highly recommended.

Leading Theses Propounded In De Hemelsche Leer:
NOTE: This 3 volume set is available in Paperback or Hardback.
This thoughtful, provocative work is answer and refutation to the current theological storm arising from the proclamation "God is dead." The author, retired pastor of The Lord's New Church (Swedenborgian), goes much further than merely denying the validity of the God-is-dead revolution...
He explains its causes, exposes its fallacy and - more important - with great clarity and logic presents a fresh approach to grasping the relation of God to man and of man to God, a theology particularly applicable to present day needs.
Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, basing his observations and insights on the inspired teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, appeals to the intellect rather than the emotions. Readers desiring superficial palliatives or a restatement of traditional beliefs must look elsewhere. Here they will find a new, imaginative analysis of the spiritual problems facing mankind today and the solution of those problems found only in the eternal Word of God.

Love and Wisdom is a key work in building a New Church worldview. However, its philosophical nature can stand in the way of experiencing the path to a more rich and meaningful life it offers. This companion work by Rev. Prescott Rogers serves to make Divine Love and Wisdom more accessible to all readers, regardless of their background in Swedenborgian thought.

Rogers guides us through Swedenborg’s effort to answer one of the so-called big questions in life-- “What is creation and what does it mean for me?” If this seems daunting at first, don’t worry. We are in good hands. Informed by his decades of studying and teaching New Church theology as well as his
understanding of Eastern religious and philosophical thought, Rogers invites us to the boundaries of our knowledge. And like the master teacher he is, he gives us all a gentle nudge into our as yet unknown.

This study, which is about the spiritual meaning of the number 12, reveals amazing parallel correspondences of the 12 Tribes of Israel, the 12 Apostles and the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It reflects Swedenborg's Miscellaneous Theological Works and his description of other planets.
What is the Creation story in the book of Genesis really trying to tell us? Is it truly a divinely-inspired description of God creating the world in just six days? With the ongoing evolution of modern scientific discoveries...
these questions can be a challenge for Bible-readers like humanitarian and psychotherapist E. Kent Rogers—which is why he believes the story of Creation is actually a timeless guide for our own transition from darkness to light.
In Seven Days of Spiritual Evolution: The Genesis of Personal Transformation, Rogers responds to a growing movement of biblical literalism by turning to eighteenth-century spiritual teacher Emanuel Swedenborg, who wrote prolifically about how the deeper symbolic meanings of Bible text can provide spiritual guidance. Using Swedenborg’s language of correspondences, Rogers shows us how Genesis 1 describes our psychological landscape as it unfolds along the horizons of our inner journey toward God. He draws insightful parallels between the different stages of our spiritual growth and contemporary psycho therapeutic treatment—from person-centered to cognitive to behavioral therapies. To make the intangible tangible, Rogers accesses what he has learned as both a mental health counselor and spiritual practitioner to offer workable methods for improving how we think and behave on a daily basis.
Intended as a tool for anyone who is interested in personal and spiritual development, Seven Days of Spiritual Evolution weaves psychology, spirituality, and everyday experience into a practical approach to growth. “Faith isn’t about drawing lines in the sand or judging others,” Rogers says, “it’s about learning how to love others and to love God.” Ultimately, it’s about opening our hearts to the Bible as a useful and never-ending guidebook for God’s all-loving, redeeming, and merciful work in the world.
